Creative Statement

I don't want to start this off with, hi my name is Angela (and yes i realize that i am basically doing just that), but i find it very difficult to write or talk about myself most times. It usually only troubles me when I have to introduce myself to a group of people. Not so say that I am in any way shy because I'm not, maybe reserved and cautious is the best way to describe myself in a new situation. Or maybe in some ways i feel generally uncomfortable with being exposed in that way to strangers. That is probably why i choose to write about others and topics that I am seemingly distanced from. When i originally came to Hunter I was set on being an English major, and I'm not sure where along the way i decided to switch to a Journalism concentration and Political Science minor, but it happened. Generally speaking I like what journalism stands for, it is on it's own a public service and seeks out to make sure the truth and facts are at the forefront. I have never really pictured myself in front of the camera like a broadcast journalist, but maybe that just comes from the whole "i don't like to expose myself" thing. But I would enjoy exploring a more creative side of journalism, since so much of it seems to be moving to the internet, this opens a window for journalists to create more interactive stories or eve generate different kinds of content. So I think that is really what I hope to gain from this class, a new skill that i can apply to the work I want to do.
