Blog 4: Alison S. M. Kobayashi // SAY SOMETHING BUNNY

Alison Kobayashi's visit made me look and think film making in a very different way, or at least look at documentary and story telling differently. The modes in which she told her stories were unique and what was just as unique were the stories that she chooses to tell. The pieces that she showed to us, all had in common that they were literally found objects. She happened to find a note, and took that and made a short film out of it. Alison seemed to be so luck that all of these objects some how gravitate to her, how many people find a note like that, and then also happen to find this wire recorder with all of this history recorded on it. SAY SOMETHING BUNNY, really shows a different approach to presenting a history and documentary more than anything else she presented. I have literally never seen anything like it, and it's such a fun approach and the subjects kind of call for this kind of approach. I would think it is impossible to be bored during her show, since there are so many moving pieces in the presentation. But I think she presented some pretty interesting ideas when it comes to story telling, I'm an aspiring journalist, but it's still story telling. Although I dont think any of my pieces could ever be as interactive as SAY SOMETHING BUNNY, there are ways to make a news story interactive (depending on the story) and I'm more willing to look into that.
